Attempted kidnap in Reddish

Police are appealing for witnesses to an attempted kidnapping in Reddish.

At about 4.30pm on Tuesday 20 December 2016, a 52-year-old woman was walking on Oswald Street when she was approached from behind by a man, who grabbed her and tried to pull her away.

Following a struggle, the woman managed to break free and run away. Fortunately, she wasn’t hurt but she was left extremely distressed.

The man is described as tall, white, in his 30s, and was wearing a black puffa jacket with the hood pulled up.

Detective Constable Kat Moriarty of GMP’s Stockport Borough said: “This woman was approached and grabbed by a man whose motives remain unclear. This has left her understandably distressed and I would like to appeal to anyone who saw what happened or has any information to get in touch with police as a matter of urgency.”
